Ahjaz Hussain is the Founder and Director of The Awakening Rehab CIC, a pioneering community interest company rooted in compassion, lived experience, and a commitment to transformative recovery. His vision for The Awakening was born not only from professional ambition but from his own deeply personal journey through mental health challenges, addiction, and ultimately, healing.
Having faced and overcome the very struggles many of his clients live with, Ahjaz brings a unique, empathetic perspective to his leadership. His lived experience forms the foundation of The Awakening’s philosophy: that true recovery is possible when individuals are supported with structure, compassion, and purpose. It is this insight that fuels his unwavering dedication to helping others break cycles of trauma, dependency, and hopelessness.
Through The Awakening Rehab CIC, Ahjaz has created a safe and structured sanctuary where individuals can heal holistically, emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. He works in close collaboration with clinical psychologists, medical professionals, and therapeutic support staff to ensure that every care pathway is person-centred, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive.
Ahjaz is also a passionate advocate for mental health awareness, social reintegration, and breaking the stigma around addiction and psychological distress. His leadership extends beyond the rehab walls, actively working with families, local authorities, and community partners to promote recovery-focused systems of care.
